Types of creativity

Creativity is the ability to create or invent, we may have heard that this ability is inherent in a few, but in reality it is an innate capacity of the human being.

Because of this ability man has managed to subsist over the years and has been reflected in the constant invention of tools to supplement our physical or mental deficiencies. According to Jeff DeGraff, an innovative professor at Ross School of Business, we are all creative only differently and he has catalogued creativity into five types. What are they?

Mimetic creativity

It consists of applying an existing idea in another area to generate new knowledge that fits the current market. It is the creative who looks at history and tries to learn from the mistakes of others.

Bisociative creativity

It is the ability of our mind to develop a project based on the famous "brainstorming". This type of people think that the greater the amount of ideas, the greater the possibility of finding better solutions, just as they speculate that it is transcendental to delight and not work under pressure, or stress so that things start to flow naturally, they always seek to balance the rational and the emotional.

Narrative creativity

It is the ability to create people, actions and plots through descriptions to tell a story built as a new story or a reconstruction with different versions. They are very skillful people for the descriptions and help to give understanding to the younger ones.

Analogical creativity

It involves relating different things, even if they are not similar in order to solve problems that we don't know about. People with this type of creativity often use rhetorical figures such as comparison or metaphor.

Intuitive creativity

It is the height of creativity produced by inventing an idea in the mind without outside help. People with this type of creativity are often distracted to let their most productive imagination run free and feel the need to free themselves or relax in order to be creative.

What is the importance of creativity?

As we mentioned in the beginning, creativity has been in charge of proposing and innovating and thanks to this skill the human being has managed to subsist, because the capacity to create, that is to say, creativity is what has helped us to produce changes and turn our disadvantages into advantages, it also helps us to see everything that surrounds us as something susceptible to undergo changes or to be improved.

Moreover, creativity is the breaking point when talking about prospering in any kind of market because it helps us turn our obstacles into superiorities to innovate and excel.
